Description:

From Glastonbury On the Green Art & Craft Show Website:

Historic Hubbard Green will be transformed into an Open Air Gallery on September 12 & 13, 2015, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, both days, rain or shine.

Every year, Glastonbury's picturesque Hubbard Green changes from a quiet oasis of shade trees and open space into a bustling marketplace for original fine art and hand-made craft.

As visitors walk along the shaded aisles, they find realistic and abstract art in oil, watercolor, pastel, photography, graphics, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture. The diverse selection of hand-made craft includes works in clay, metal, glass, fiber, wood, and jewelry. Each item of original art and hand-made craft would please the most discerning home dcor or wardrobe.

The 150 artists who participate in the "On the Green" Fine Art & Craft Show are selected for the top-notch caliber of their artistry. "The secret to the show's long-term success is the high quality and extensive variety of art work exhibited for sale", says show committee member Katherine Simmons. "Show visitors also know they will always find something to appeal to their artistic taste and budget."

The "On the Green" show is the signature event of Glastonbury Arts, founded in 1962 under the name of the Glastonbury Art Guild. The "On the Green" Show is also one of the larger events of the year drawing thousands of people from around the region to a weekend of browsing and buying. Exhibiting artists arrive in Glastonbury from all points of the compass, from Maine to Florida, eager to show and sell their most recent creations to an appreciative audience.

Behind the scenes, Glastonbury Arts volunteers carefully plan this annual event for the maximum comfort of both visitors and exhibiting artists. "The venue is inviting, admission and parking are free, a food court offers sustenance for the body, and art offers inspiration for the spirit -- everything is designed to make this a 'must' on everyone's weekend agenda", says Carol Ahlschlager, Glastonbury Arts Board member and volunteer. "For young show visitors, the free Eco-Art for Kids activity provides the opportunity for children to create and take home imaginative sculptures made from recyclable items."

Visitors to the show enjoy free parking and shuttle bus service from Glastonbury High School and more free parking at the Main Street soccer field.
