Navys Military Service Dog Team to be honored as a 2016 Submarine Century Event at Mystic Lions Clubs Canines n Crafters Fair

In a first of its kind ceremony, the Mystic Lions Club will award Lions Community Service Medals to the Military Work Dogs of the US Naval Submarine Base in Groton as part of the Submarine Century Year celebrations in the region. The medal ceremony will be part of the grand opening events at the Canines n Crafts Fair Saturday May 21st from 10am to 4pm at the North Stonington Fairgrounds. The Military Dog teams and other police and specially trained dogs will display their skills throughout the day in demonstrations and contests. Admission to the event is free, with only a $5 parking fee. Visitors are invited to bring their leashed dogs to enjoy and participate in the many activities which include doggie contests, dog costume contest, an animal communicator, and dozens of pet centered booths and prizes. Lions will be cooking dogs on the grill (and burgers, chowder and desserts, too), and other crafters will present their wares.
